It is not good for scuba divers to jump off of anything.

All entries on scuba are walk in or roll in entries.
Back roll in entry
Giant stride entry
controlled seated entry
They are done from docks, piers, beaches, the dive platform at the stern (back part) of the boat.
They are the same basic entries that snorkelers also use.

On a boat made for scuba diving, there might be a “dive platform” at the stern of the boat. This is just a flat area that one can easily stand with fins.

Other boats (not made specifically for diving) one can just sit on the side and roll off the boat.

On shore dive, one can just walk in.

When diving from a dock/pier, one can just step in (giant stride entry).

It depends exactly where you are diving. Sometimes, it will be from a boat, other times it may be from a jetty or pier. Or you may walk into the water from the shore.
