And for gear, you don't need to get your own, you can rent your gear from a local shop, whatever works for your price range, if you do want to get gear start with the basics. A BCD, A regulator, some fins and a mask. I rent tanks, always have and probably always will. There are a lot of little accessoriess that you can get, but yodon'tnt really need.
